COURSE TITLE: 3D Level Video Game Design

This course is sponsored by

Course Description
Using one of the most sophisticated and widely used game engines in the video game industry, this course will introduce you to level design concepts and introductory techniques. Students will learn to use the Unreal Editor that comes with Unreal Tournament 3 to build a simple 3D multiplayer game level.  The Unreal Engine powers some of the most successful video games in history including Gears of War, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas, Bioshock, and Mass Effect to name a few.

Students will be introduced to basic multiplayer level design theory as well as practical techniques.  During this intensive one week course, you will apply all of the technical skills gained in the course to create a fully playable 3D multiplayer level. The process will include drawing a level map, orange boxing, adding 3D static meshes, level lighting and compiling.  Footage of level gameplay will be recorded and output onto a DVD.
